January 29th, 2013: Family

Dear Family.

Well this week was a good week. We were able to have a baptism. My companions first baptism!! It was great!!! We were really blessed to be able to have this baptism. We have been working our tails off. The hard work finally came through but just means we need to work harder. My companion is great. He will be a great missionary. At times I feel as if im too hard on him but he handles it well. I hope that I can help him be a great missionary I know he will be one. Kind of crazy how fast time is passing. I cant do anything to make it slow down. Today Im gonig to send pictures so I dont really know what more to say. I know that this is the true Church. I love it so much. I love our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ so much! This is his work and us missionaries are here to represent him and his great church. I love the book of mormon. I have learned so much from it and I continue to increase my learning from it everyday. I love all of you and hope all of you can continue to progress in this wonderful gospel!! I hope all of us can add to this wonderful work and do something to serve in it! Much love and kisses and hugs!!

January 22nd, 2013: HOlas

Hola Family. How are things. Good Good Good. Things are going pretty good in the mission. Last week Elder Christofferson came to Guatemala and we had a great big conference with him. All of our mission was able to be there and Part of the North and South it was awesome! Elder Christofferson is definatly an Apostle of the Lord. What an amazing man. It was super great being in his pressence. Elder Martino also spoke. it was great. All of us learned so much. He talked about repentance and how that is what we need to teach nothing but basics and listening with our hearts. It was a great conference. Well the time is sure passing fast and there is nothing I can do to stop it all though I would love to stop it just for a bit. I love this work and it sure is great to be a big part of it. Also something that Elder Christofferson mentioned is that we are big parts of the work. If we dont give it our all we can slow the work. No matter if were missionaries full time or members. So we all need to give it our all so the work and progress faster and faster. Also that we are the companions of the Apostles. That there arent enough of them so we are the companions of them. and so our Authority is Apostalic. It was awesome. But things are well in the work we are going to have a baptism this sunday just pray pray pray for him. His name is Jonathan. He is great. The work is definatly increasing. We will be have two change meetings this change and in total we will be recieveing just about 70 missionaries. It will be crazy. The work is growing and growing fast!! President said we will probably be recieveing another visa waiting on the 5 of Feb. So that will be fun. Well I love you all n stuff. Keep on keeping on!!

Bueno.... How is everyone doing? Looks like the snow is great.... HAHA.. There is no signs of snow here. Kind of weird. Today we were able to have District meeting in the house of President. That was fun. I think they miss me too much. haha not really but we were chosen because last change we didnt have enough time to go out to eat with President. Usually when Secretaries leave he always takes them out to eat. We had no time though so he said my district would be able to have our meeting there and Sister Brough cooked afterwards to that is always great. I sure do miss the Broughs though. They are such wonderful people! Another great experience we had with a different family. It happend yesterday. A family that we hope to baptize here soon. They are awesome. Family Juarez. When we got there we asked if they had read the assignment that we had left. They had, had some problems so they werent able to so we decided to ready it with them. We read in Nefi 31 and talked alot about baptism is was a very spiritual lesson and we were able to help them understand much more what they need to do to prepare to be baptized at the end we ask the wife of the family to pray. She said no but we taught her over again how to pray and said okay now we will close our eyes and listen. Took her a while but atlast she started. The Prayer was excellent and at the end she said. And father please help us to be able to change so that we can be baptized and enter into this path. It was so great and the spirit was so strong. after she said amen we all felt the spirit enter the room. What a blessing it was. We had to run to the house after because it was already past 9 but it was a great lesson and so we hope to baptize them here soon they are awesome.
I forgot to tell you but two weeks ago they took away one of my sons. so I only have one but president told me that I will probably recieve one the 5th of Feb. So that will be fun! Sure hope so. I like being in trios. Its great. Elder Legorreta is my comp right now he is soo great. I love him lots but he is tooooo Skinny he weighs 100 pounds I feel like im going to break him everytime i touch him haha Well i love you all and i hope you are all doing well. I hope you all are reading the Book of Mormon everyday! Much love

January 8th, 2013: Family

Hello Family!

This past week was a week that was called The Perfect week. Its the week that we have to achieve all of our goals with New investigators and lessons and things like that. We werent able to baptize darn it all. And we didnt get atleast 8 to Sacrament meeting so we were a little bummed with that but we did our best and Worked our butts of too kill the lessons and kill in finding new investigators. It was great. but we are hoping for baptisms here soon it will be great. We have some good familes that we are teaching and so we will be able to get them in the water for sure. But we need to do it in this month because this is the big month that we are going to baptize 350 as a mission. So keep that goal in your prayers and we reach for that amount i know that we will be able to do it! Cool story to end because i dont have much time but with a family that we just found We were trying to close the lesson and we told the family that any questions that they might have we would do our best to answer them and if we couldnt answer them we would study to find out the answers. The wife of the family thought that it was intresting that we studied everyday. We asked her to end with the prayer. She agreeed and in her prayer she ask God to help us to be able to study good enough to help them with the things that we need. When she said that it really made me realize the importance of studying and studying good everyday. As a misionary our investigators really depend on our studies and the revelations that we recieve as we study. It really has helped me to focus more on each investigator and to find out what they need through our studies. I tried to do it before but now my focus is alot better. It was a great prayer! They are a great family! They will be baptized in this month. After the prayer the Wife asked if we could pass by their house everyday to teach them The husband was taken back so she said well every other day! So we agreed and now we hope to baptize them here soon! Keep them in your prayers! the Family Mejia Perez they are awesome! Well i sure do love you all and hope that you all know that I know that the Lord lives and this is his work! I love being a missionary and I couldnt be happier of where I am and what I am doing! This is where im meant to beee I can find my way i can go the distance.. haha just kidding. Hurcules Hurcules!! Welp i love you all! God Speed Familia Mia!

November 29th, 2012: Buen Dia

Hello my wonderful family! How is everyone doing? Can you all believe it that it is almost Decmeber! How crazy is that! Time is flying by! I bet you are all loving the Christmas music on the radio. Here in the office thats all we listen to! Its great. David Archuletta and Motab christmas is the best!  Well last change I dont think I ever told you about the two people we baptized a couple weeks ago huh? Well they were just two brothers that a family gave us as a reference. The oldest is 16 and his name is Christian and the other is Alex and hes 10. It was great. Right now we are working on their Grandma and oldest brother but they are a little more hard hearted. But thats okay we can do it with the help of the Lord. But they are awesome. Here in the office our motto is kind of like the motto of the Titanic. "Women and Children first!!"... ha.. Not really but thats how it is right now! The worth of every soul is great! My letters are boring huh. I just dont know what to write anymore.
We had a pretty cool experience the past week. We were in a bus on a way to visit someone at the very top of our area. While talking to everyone that we could some guy came up to me and said "Can you come to my house right now?". I said well sure. But who are you? I said. He said that he used to know the missionaries and that he wanted us to come to his house. He lived in a place far a way from where we were going so we asked if we could pass by tomorrow he said that would be fine! So we went and found where he lived the next day. He is married to a member who is inactive. He said when he saw us in the bus it was a Miracle because he had been praying to find someone that could help his wife. Because she has been sick. He remembered about the blessings that we give and right then he realized that it was an answer to his prayers. He is a super humble guy and wants to learn more about the church. But they arent married.. like every other couple here in Guatemala and he works sundays but we will have to see what we can do about that because he needs to be baptized! It was a great lesson that we had with them and the spirit was strong! He was also an answer to our prayers. We have been looking and looking for people to baptize and before we found him we really had no candidates. But the Lord works in great ways and I am so grateful for the opportuinities that we have as missionaries to be able to see his hand in the work every single day! Today we have another lesson with this guy. His name is David. So I am excited about that.

Well anywho. I love all of you and I hope that we can all see the little things that the Lord does for all of us each and everyday! I love the Lord and I know he lives. He can and will help us change our lives! I love this work and couldnt be happier in this part of the vineyard! I love my family and I am so very Grateful for each one of you!!! Thanks for your prayers and love!

HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY JULIE ANN I SURE DO LOVE YOU AND HOPE YOU HAD THE GREATEST DAY EVER!!!! I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!

November 23rd, 2012: I L0V3 MY FAMILY

Hello Family!!!

Como ESTAMOS!?!!? Muy Bien! Sure hope Thanksgiving was fun. I was here. In the office. Haha. But good news is that I found a huge box of Stuffing at a place called Pricemart here. Its like Costco and it has a lot of american things so I was pumped and had to buy it! I did, at least make some stuffing yesterday here in the office! It was great! I bet yall had some fun though? Cool beans! Well I feel like my letters have surely not been that good lately. I am sorry. I think I have been kind of down. I didnt really know why but on monday we had Interviews with President and he really helped me a lot! He is such an amazing man and is really guided by the spirit! At first I thought I was down because no one writes me and no one loves me but then I thought about it and realized a lot of people love me. Que me importa if no one writes me. Thats what I say. After I thought it was because no one wants to listen to our message and everyone hates us as missionaries. The only people that love us are the Drunk guys out on the street. But that only lasts like 10 minutes and ends with them crying and hugs from them. Its so precious. But that really thats not it either. President told me that I am turning into an Office Elder. He told me that is was he doesnt want. He said I am a Missionary first and an Office Elder Second. He told me that it happens. Its hard to maintain our spirituality in the office. It is so true. I really have to focus in being more diligent and getting my studies in. In the office its hard to get studies in. That is the main thing that I have been missing is really the daily study that we really need as missionaries and as children of God. So since monday I have been having my personal study atleast an hour a day and really it has made all the difference! Yesterday even proved it. We had a good day in the office and left on time from the office. Got back to the area to work and we had 6 lessons and found 7 new investigators that are really positive! It was great! I sure cannot wait to get back to the field just 4 weeks more! YAY. President told me I really need to prepare now to get back to the field! Its going to be great!! Gotta just finish strong! I know I can do it! Well that was my story for the day! But I will be better in my weekly letters. I just am not a big fan of writting, I just dont know what to write. and I know you are all the same! Welp I sure do Love you all and hope you all can realize the importance of daily study of the Gospel. I know it will bless your lives ALOT! Welp the Church is true and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ lives and loves us more than we can imagine. And So Do I!!!! MUCH MUCH LOVE!!

Hey Family!

Well changes have come and gone once again! I cant believe how fast the mission is going! It really is kind of crazy to me. This change will be a short change. It is only going to be 5 weeks and we have to open up 5 areas. Hopefully one of the areas that we open will be the one that I will go to! I sure hope so! It would be awesome. I hope to open an area and train for my last three changes! That would be great!! The next change will be 9 weeks! We have to change our schedule of changes because now latin missionaries will be 2 weeks in the MTC and Gringos only 6 weeks. So now with this change I will be coming home two weeks later! Cool eh? Maybe not for yall but for me that is! My release date is now the 15 of May instead of the 1st. Sooooo yeah. Ill be coming home later now. But I would love for whoever wants to come pick me up to come! That would be super fun! So details with that is.. The day I am realeased we have dinner together as a group with President and Sister Brough and then after we have a testimony meeting that the parents are invited to the dinner and testimony meeting! So that would mean come the 15th or the 14th I dont know what day would be best. I have a good friend that I have made here in the office that would be more then happy to help us transport and stuff when you come. I just dont know how much it would be though. Let me know what yall are going to do and we can set the up with him. But anywhoo.. Things are great here in the mission! We hope to have some baptisms here soon. We have had 2 these past two weeks that I dont think i have mentioned. Great miracles that I will tell you bouts later today is my PDay and I gotta go! Not that my Pday is more important than my family its just I gotta do somethings and I dont want to be in the office anymore! I love you all and attached you will recieve a great Picture that I hope you can include in the Chirstmas card or make a chirstmas card for me! I love you all!!!

A hard Eathquake hit Guatemala. 7.4.. Crazy!!!

Dont worry Im fine and we have almost heard everthing from all the missionaries! Kind of crazy. It shook super hard here in the office building. At first we were like oh another earthquake like nomal but then it kept going and got harder and harder. So we all were like lets get out of here and so we started to leave and the whole office building was evaquating! Everything is fine now though just a big scare. I dont know how it is inRetalhuleu but thats where it hit. Kind of crazy we felt it all the way here in the city. But everything is fine. If you were worried or even knew!! Love you ALL!!

November 2nd, 2012: Family

Dear Family,

This week was fun a good week. I once again missed Halloween at the house. I thought about pumpkin dinner alot. I love but thats okay it was my last time missing it! But it was kind of weird this year for halloween we couldnt even go work. All of the missionaries had to be in their houses at 6 It was kind of a bummer. But it was ok because President came to our house to study with us and it was super awesome. I learned so much. I learned that I need to study a lot better. I doubt too much in the revelations that I recieve from the spirit. I just need to trust in the spirit more. It was great! I learned so much! I love President Brough and I have the greatest opportunity to work close with him. its really great! Time is going by way too fast for me though. I dont feel like I have time to do anything anymore. This week has just flown by and it is changes in ten days. Elder Jaramillo leaves the office this change so that will be weird. This change we are opening 5 areas so we have been running all over to buy all the things for the houses and also going on hunts to find houses in those areas its been fun. The mission is growing and growing fast! next change we will be opening 6 or 7 areas and so next change will be really crazy! We are going to be looking for houses for all of next change. The bad thing is, is that next change is only 5 weeks. because they didnt want changes to be the day after christmas. so that will be crazy! Also with those areas that we are opening I think I will be opening one and training sooo that will be super duper!! I sure hope so!! I dont know what I will do! Keep in your prayers family Lemus and Marroquin they are both such great families. Fam. Lemus should be baptized this weekend but we will have to seee.. Fam. Marroquin can be baptized at anytime. They are such great people and so ready they are just waiting for some reason! The Sister is waiting on here answer still but I think she just needs to recognize it! They are just too great! They will be baptized thats for sure! Well I sure do love you all! I get to go work today a little early so that will be fun I love you all and hope you are all doing super great!!! Miss you all and Happy birthday to Zach and Thank you for the blanket Grandma Jake!!!!!  I absolutely LOVE IT!!! Thanks a billion!! Also I dont know if you have sent my Christmas package but in another package I need some shirts. I seem to have lost some shirts and also some socks and also someone stole my USA soccer jersey im so sad. Can keep track of much in our house. HAHA but I would love some Pretzle m&ms they are great and alsoooo I dont know you always send great packages! maybe some hand written letters would be fun. Pictures and just love!! I love you all..Send my love to Cami! She will be great!!

Dear Family!

Well long time no talk. Im sorry I havent written for a while, we have been super super busy with all of the registros and we have had a lot of zone conferences and stuff sooo its been a long couple weeks but next week things should kind of settle down in the office hopefully! But things are great! I am doing super good. My companion and I are working really hard. Elder Vindas is my new companion from Costa Rica and he is great! He is learning everything here in the office super fast and so things are great! We also are hoping to baptize 6 people this month so pray, pray, and pray some more. We have a great family that is super duper ready but for some reason they don´t feel completely ready yet. They want to learn more about the church yet. They are so ready to be baptized the most ready I have every seen anyone but still want to wait. So they definitely need some prayers. We explained to them about the temple and they loved it they said yeah thats something that we want. But after they asked when I was leaving to my house and I said May and then they got super sad and said so wait you wont even be here when we get sealed! So im just super confused with this family. I know they will be baptized but they are just wanting to be sure i guess. they are great though! Also we have a great family of 4 that will be baptized. Its not a complete family because the mom is single but she has 4 boys that are super awesome and love the church alot after going one time. We past by the church last night and one of the kids was there practicing a dance with all of the young men that they are going to do in the stake this month so that is super awesome as well. So hopefully they will be baptized the 28th we are sure hoping to be able to baptize a lot together we have been working really hard and the Lord is blessing us a lot! Well I sure do love all of you and next week hope to have a longer letter. Hows my Grandmas? Hows The Texas Moons doing? What part of Chile are you going to Stef? Are you going to see David? An Elder here in the office Elder Araya is from Santiago. Julie Ann I love you! Miss your quick emails!! Welp cool beans! I sure do love you all and miss you all!! Much Love!!!

September 13th, 2012: Family

Dear Family,

Well this past week was a pretty good week! We have a family getting ready for baptism and should be baptized this next week! We are really excited for them! Family Jimenez. Angel and Nanci, they are awesome! Funny story on saturday we were driving all over the mission in the morning. It was really a rough morning. First we had to take a mini missionary to the coast which is like a 2 hour ride and then to another area like 20 minutes away to take a fridge to. So it took the whole morning on saturday! We had to make a lot of stops on the way back just droping off random things at houses. Anywho after we were all done we had to take the truck to presidents because he needed it for the weekend. After we droped it off we had guy that worked at the place president lives call a taxi. After getting home and leaving the taxi we were finally ready to work. But.... one thing I had left our cell in the taxi sooooo we spent a couple more hours on trying to call the taxi service place to get us back the cell phone... Good thing we didnt just get some random taxi that day because it would have been long gone. But Still we spent the whole weekend trying to find where our cell phone was. Finally on monday we were able to go to their offices and get the cell phone back. It was quite the fight but we did it! It was funny but really annoying because I had to keep calling and keep calling this taxi place. It was kind of a weird weekend but we got it back. But I know I know it just sounds like typical me but i was really really tired from that morning. But thats okay we learn from our mistakes. It was kind of funny. Good thing we got it back though!

Today I guess a Volcano exploaded here in Guatemala. Crazy huh! Luckly where we are we wont be too effected but if I would have been in either one of my last areas I would have been alot closer. Right now we are kind of in a panic trying to get a hold of all the missionaries so that we can tell them they all have to be prepared with 72 hour kits haha crazy but super cool. I dont know if we will get any of the volcanic ash but ill send you pictures if so. Last time this happened I remember the mission turned into a service mission for 3 days but I think this time it might be differnt I dont know though. But Anyyywhoo.. Hows the family doing? How are my lovely Grandmas doing? I sure do love them! I love you all so much and I feel all of your prayers. keep praying hoping that we will reach 300 baptisms as a mission thing month! We are doing well so far. right now we have 125 baptisms. Thats great for the first two weeks. That gives us 3 weeks to get 175 baptisms and its should be great! We should be able to get it! It just puts alot of work for me and my comp with all the dats and baptismal records! hah But I love it! the more work the better! Well I love you all so much and would love to hear from yall!!! Love yall and miss yall. Keep on being a great family! and Thanks mom and dad for all that you do!! Much Love!!!
