July 27th, 2012: Dearest Family

Hey Family

Well this past week was a pretty good week! I had my toe operated on again. After 6 months of walking on it was about time to take care of it. It was really nasty and gross. This time it hurt really bad to have it operated on! I wanted to cry! I have Videos and pictures I will send next this monday hopefully. Right now its on the other secretaries computer so I cant right now! But you all can see how great it is! Not really.. Its really grosss! But here in the office its going pretty good. Definately going to gain weight here so I need some tips of what I can do! I started thing morning going to the gym with the assistants so ill probably buy a monthly pass. Hopefully I dont gain too much! Dont worry I wont! I gotta start being better at what I can eat n stuff. But also its kind of hard when Presidents daughter makes homemade chocolate fudge for us. It was so good! I ate alot of it! Anywho things are good here in the office it just is alot different so I am still getting used to it! The Area is pretty great as well. I can tell we are going to have lots of success. Right now we arent having the greatest but thats because I dont think that they were working hard enough last change but now that im here we are going to have a lot of success! haha I sure hope so. I know that the Lord will bless us if we work hard and are obedient! I am very happy to be able to work here. The other secs and APs combined they have 14 baptisms this sunday! It should be a great weekend! My companion is kind of a downer but I still love him. He is just really a big air head but thats okay. I think I can stand him for a change. I just hope he can teach me better how to be a good sec. But all is well I just got to get to know the members better because no body in the ward likes him.. poor guy. But that will all change with me I cant wait to just tear this area up! haha ;) well I love you all and I hope you all are doing AMAZING! Cant wait for Molly Jane! Shes my sister! Well I love you all and I hope to be at the wedding... As a cardboard atleast vaaaa.... Welp Love yall... Missionary work is the best work!

July 20th, 2012: Family

Dearest Family,

Hello! How is everyone doing? I am doing great. Sorry I havent written yet. We have been super busy! I have been trying to learn everything really good and fast. usually as Secretaries we have two changes to learn everything. But I only have one. The companion I am with right now is leaving this change so I have to learn everything quick!! But things are great! I am on the computer everyday! In the Office everyday! Its great though the office group is fun. One of my best friends in the mission is here with me. Elder Jaramillo he is from Vegas and in my second change and his first change we had the dream to be in the office together! It came true! So its super great! In the office there is Me and my comp. Elder Adams. Hes from Arizona. Elder Jaramillo who is the Ex. Sec. and his comps Elder Cucuk and Elder Gregory! They are the Financial Secs. Elder Cucuk is trainning Elder Gregory how to be the new Financial Sec. Elder Gregory is from Provo. Great kid! But also we are in a trio as well. Elder Walbeck who is from sandy and went to Alta is with us too. He is sick so we have to opportunity to be with him. He has really bad headaches and might have to go home. I sure hope not because he is super great! So our house has 6 missionaries living there! ITS CRAZY!!.. Let me tell ya.. But SUPER FUN!! We have great fun and we all get along great! The APs live right next to us and I love them both. Elder Rivas from Belice. The other is Elder Trejo from Honduras. They are great as well! Its quite the crew! It is super fun though I love it.
Advantages as a secretary.... 1 Cell phone... makes work alot easier! Both missionary work and Office work! 2 We have a truck! Drove for the first time monday! I continue to drive. Its crazy not going to lie. Guatemala is a crazy place to drive! 3 Working along side President and Hermana Brough! They put alot of trust in us! Love us more then others! haha 4 Watching talks online and reading talks! 5 Being with Gringos. and working hard! 6 We shop at a place that is just like Costco. 7 Getting mail faster then anyone. 8 Getting cookies from Sister Brough! 9 We baptize still!! 10 ITS GREAT
Disadvantages... 1 In the office and sitting till 330 everyday. 2 Cell Phone.. Any missionary can call and just complain whenever they want! 3 Getting chewed out by President Brough more then any other missionaries... I havent yet but wull see! But its because he loves us more. 4 Not having a cocinera. Just fast food. Im gonna get fat.. hopefully not. 7 Hard to take Pdays 8 Getting used to this schedule. 9 Working in Excel.. ALOT!! 10 Being in charge of mail and pouch! 11 No studying.. But its still great!!
Well I am enjoying being here in the office! Its just a lot of work and a lot of missionaries depending on us and ecspecially President depending on us! Things are awesome though! As a sec. I have to enter in all the baptism forms and thats kind of boring and also im in charge of all the numbers and getting them to president and a whole bunch of others things! Im basically incharge of everyone and everything. HA not really though. Its quite fun though I enjoy it! We like to brag alot to the other missionaries of how great we are and stuff. Its funny! But I will be here for 3 changes usually its 4 but my comp right now leaves early so he kinda messes up the whole process! But thats okay! When I leave here I will only have 3 changes left! HOW CRAZY! Well I love you all and I hope that you all are doing super well and I hope you all know how much I love you!!!

Dear Papi.

Well I dont remember who this Sam kid is. But it does ring a bell. But you hit it right on the head when you said he is probably not living some commantments because it is what happens here alot with our investigators. They dont want to get baptized because they cant live one of the commandments. We have to always find out which one it is and work on it till they change. That sure is a bummer.
The is office is great! I will write a family letter today if I have time. But pretty much I am just in the office everyday until 4 oclock and then I head to work! Its kind of a bummer cause we dont work as much but it is definately a plus seeing the other side of President Brough! I love that man and I have the greatest opportunity to be able to work with him side by side. I love it already. The office crew is great! Just gringos. and lets just say I now have a cell phone and I get to drive the truck! Its crazy driving here in Guate. Rules dont exsist. I drove for the first time yesterday! But Ill probably write a family letter today and include more. But yes. I do get the packages as soon as they get here so its great. But yes please send medication! I had my first allergy attack here in Guate this past weekend. It might be my new area! But sounds good I love you all and also. Am I able to take personal money out on my credit card? Ive been using it because here in the office its a little different. Things are alot more expensive and We dont have a cook like all the other missionaries we eat fast food just here in the office. I hope I just dont blow up and get super fat again. Im going to have to be good about what I eat. But its going to be great. I just dont hope I spend too much money here in the office but to survive Ill have to spend a bit. also... I would love to buy a new suit! There is a guy famous with the missionaries that makes super cool suits! I was going to just get one right before I go home but he lives super close to me and my suit is super big and ugly and so I was thinking about making one now anndd when I go home.. What say you? I gotta look good for president ya know?
Well I love you and you can email when ever. I am always on the computer. I have to deal with Excel and a lot of great things like that. But it should be great! I only know computers because I learned alot just watching you! HAH! Its great though. Well I will probably write more later. But right now I gotta do somethings. but as a secretary we can pretty much do whatever! Welp love you!

July 16th, 2012: Letter from President Brough

Family of Elder Alexander Robert Moon,It is with appreciation that I inform you that Elder Moon has been called to serve in the office of the Guatemala Guatemala City Central Mission.  Like all of the Lord’s work there is a requirement for administration and organization.

As a secretary, he will have a tremendous impact on my ability to serve the great people of Guatemala and know that all functions are being performed as the Lord would have them done in the office.  This is a tremendous responsibility.

I appreciate Elder Moon for being a missionary that I can trust.  He will be blessed for the sacrifice of working hard in this new calling.

Yours Faithfully,M. Joseph BroughMission President
